Discipline of Toxicology
There are 7 faculty members in the Discipline of Toxicology, including three full professors, one senior laboratory technician and three lecturers. Major research fields are Reproductive endocrine toxicology, Genetic toxicology, Drug addiction toxicology and Molecular toxicology. In the past three years, faculty received a number of project grants from different sources, including two National Key Basic Research and Development Plans (973 program), one National High Technology Research and Development Program of China (863 program), six general programs of National Natural Science Foundation, six projects from Zhejiang Provincial Natural Science Foundation of China and Department of Science and Technology of Zhejiang Province, and three International Cooperation and Exchange programs with grants of approximately 5 million Yuan. The staff has published more than 80 scientific papers and fully or partially edited 8 monographs and books. Besides, the discipline is authorized by the government to evaluate food toxicity and safety. Over 20 items for the toxicity evaluation has received Measurement Accreditation Certificates. The staff also conducts safety evaluation on pharmaceuticals, pesticides, food and other chemicals. Graduate students of the discipline will be equipped with various toxicity tests techniques and skills.
The Discipline of Nutrition and Food Hygiene has two full professors, one associated professors, two lecturers and several part-time professors which are distinguished scholars home and abroad. Major research fields are Photochemical and Health, Nutrition and Endocrine Disorder and Metabolic Diseases, Nutrition and Cardiovascular Diseases, Nutrition and Cancer, and Development of Health foods. 20 students have graduated with master’s degree on Nutrition and Food Hygiene. Currently 12 graduate students are study now. In the past two years, the staff received research funds from a wide variety of sources including, one 973 program, two general programs of National Natural Science Foundation, 15 projects from provinces and ministries, and over 20 enterprise-funded latitudinal projects with over 2 million Yuan total research grants. The staff has published over 30 papers, among which three are SCI papers. Faculties are awarded three prizes and three projects get Scientific and Technological Achievement Appraisal Certificate. Staffs edited 10 teaching materials and monographs.
