Occupational and Environmental Health is Zhejiang Province Key Subject, which has the right to confer doctor degrees. Bioelectromeganetics Key Laboratory of Zhejiang Province is affiliated to this subject. There are 19 teaching staff, including 6 professors (5 are PhD supervisors) and 6 associate Professors, among which 4 are Ph.D. The subject aims to study the health impacts of physical and chemical factors from the molecular, cellular and population levels, and to explore their risk prevention, intervention and management measures. Main characteristics and advantages: 1, electromagnetic radiation hygiene studies-To investigate the health consequences and biological effects affected by power frequency electromagnetic field and radio frequency electromagnetic fields; and to carry out health risk assessment for different frequency electromagnetic fields and to participate in the development of health standards. 2, research on the pathogenic mechanism and control of occupational hazards : To explore the molecular mechanisms of silicotic fibrosis and silicosis-related lung cancers using proteomic methods; and to explore the preventions and treatments of silicosis. An 863 project, many National Natural Science Foundations and many provincial and ministerial research projects are under study in the subject. In the past 5 years, it has received 6 ministerial or provincial awards, and more than 200 papers were published including 40 SCI papers.
The goal of the institute is to study the health impacts of physical, chemical and biological factors, and to explore their mechanism, risk assessment and prevention, intervention and management measures. Main characteristic study domains include:
1. Electromagnetic radiation hygiene studies. To investigate the health consequences and mechanism of biological effects affected by power frequency electromagnetic fields and radiofrequency electromagnetic fields, and to carry out health risk assessment and prevent harmful effects of different frequency electromagnetic fields, and to develop of health standards.
2. Research on the pathogenic mechanism and control of occupational hazards. To explore the molecular mechanisms of silicosis fibrosis and silicosis-related lung cancers using proteomic methods, and to explore the preventions and treatments of silicosis.
3. Research on environmental genetic toxicology and environmental etiology of cancer from the molecular and cellular levels.
In the recent 5 years, 6 province or department’s awards were awarded, and more than 200 papers were published, including 40 SCI papers.
